- नाइट्रोजन के आधार वाले जोड़े एडिनिन, थाईयामिन (Thymine) (A-T) और साइटोसाइन (Cytosine) गुआनिन (Guanine (C-G) के साथ जुड़े होते हैं।
- इसमें फॉस्फेट समूह, पाँच कार्बन शुगर (स्थिर डीओक्सीराइबोज 2) और चार नाइट्रोजन बेस वाले दो न्यूक्लियोटाइड किस्म हैं।
- यह कोशिका के नाभिक और कुछ सेल ऑर्गेनेल के अंदर होता है, लेकिन यह पौधों के मिटोकोंड्रिया और उनकी कोशिकाओं में मौजूद होता है।
